He has also remixed the likes of Lana Del Rey, Kaiser Chiefs and Rudimental.

What inspired you to begin a career in music?

My parents are musicians and I’ve been around music since I was a kid, so I guess it was a natural path. But I think the main break was when one of my friends showed me this software, where you can build songs from existing loops and sounds. That was something magical that I’ve never seen before. I quickly got bored because you couldn’t add your own sounds, so I’ve started exploring how to make my own. And that exploration never stopped since.

What differs you and your sound from other upcoming artists in the music industry?

I’ve always had a hard time describing such things. I guess it’s for the listeners to decide whether it’s unique or not. I’m just doing my thing and trying to make things interesting and exciting for myself first.

Your latest single ‘Raise The Roof’ ft. Bryn Christopher is out now. Can you please describe the creative process and inspiration behind the release?

I got sent the demo of this song by my publisher. I really liked it and wanted to put my own twist on it. At the time I was working on a few songs with SONDR. I really liked their stuff so I asked if they would like to collaborate on ‘Raise The Roof’ – they loved the song and the rest is history.

Everyone experiences good days and bad days, as an artist. When you have a bad day, what motivates you to keep moving and look ahead to the future?

Oh yes, being a creative is such a rollercoaster ride. It’s good that people started talking more about the challenges of being an artist, bad days etc. It happens to everyone no matter the level you are at. I would say mostly talking to my girlfriend helps massively. Also, I have a few artist friends who go through similar things, so they understand what it’s like. And sometimes I just try to brush it away, stop overthinking and do something else instead.

In your own opinion, what is the most meaningful song you wrote? What makes you say that one?

I’d say ‘Losing Sleep’. We wrote and sang it together with my girlfriend. So that has to be my most meaningful song.

What personal advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue this career?

Learn the craft. Don’t rush – it takes time to find your path. Be prepared. Don’t stress about people saying no. Be patient. And most importantly – enjoy the process. You can get there overnight, but it can also take 10 years for things to happen. So, if you won’t enjoy the process, it might feel like a hell of a long time chasing those dreams without any pleasure.

What does the foreseeable future hold for you as an artist?

I have no idea what the future holds. Just taking one step at a time and trying to figure things out as I go. One thing is for sure – I will always keep pushing my own boundaries as a creator.

Anything else you would like to add?

I hope you’ll enjoy our new single ‘Raise The Roof’!

Connect with Embody

After dropping his self-released debut EP in 2014 and amassing over 100 million streams, Embody has since released on Black Butter Records, Polydor and Armada before signing to Ultra in 2019.
