I have something to say. x — and trust us, it’s one of those projects that stops you in your tracks.

Born and raised in Kent, Tia’s name has been floating through the R&B scene for a minute now, but this release feels different. It’s bold, unfiltered, and packed with the kind of honesty that makes you want to pause and really hear what she’s saying.

The project opens with “I’m not mad”, a soulful slow-burn that shows off not just her stunning vocals, but her clarity. It’s not angry — it’s beyond that. It’s the sound of someone choosing peace over chaos, choosing themselves. “It was your mistake to make, so let us go our separate ways,” she sings — not bitter, just real. Tia’s voice carries weight, not just technically, but emotionally. You believe her.

Then comes “this feeling”, a funk-laced groove that’s playful and vibey, full of character. You can hear her having fun with it — it’s effortlessly cool without trying too hard. On “backwards loving”, things get deeper. Over rich, layered production, she dives into the kind of love that leaves you spun out and unsure. “You had me stressed out, burnt out, losing my mind…” It’s that familiar tug-of-war, and she puts it into words in a way that stings a little — in the best way.

Tia isn’t afraid to get soft either. “one of a kind” is delicate and warm, with glowing brass and emotional keys cradling her voice. She sings about longing for a love that doesn’t just feel good, but different. Something rare. And on the closer, “misunderstood”, she lets the guard drop completely. Ambient beats, aching honesty, and lyrics that feel handwritten in the notes app at 2AM. Co-written with Pip Millett and Sophie Faith, it’s vulnerable in a way that feels like a gift.

Speaking about “I’m not mad,” Tia reflects:

“I wrote this song leaning on experiences where I felt disrespected and put to the side. That feeling was so strong — I had to write from it. Sophie Faith just got me. She pushed me vocally to places I hadn’t gone before. Writing with her was a dream.”

The whole EP marks a shift for Tia. Her first EP with love. x was born in heartbreak. This time around, it’s different. She’s grown — and it shows.

“I felt so much lighter making this one,” she shares. “I could sing about more than sadness. I got to talk about my heritage, my dad, disrespect, euphoric love… I’ve never put this much of myself into something before.”

That kind of honesty is what’s been setting Tia apart since the beginning. Since her debut single “Call Me” landed in 2022, she’s been championed by names like Abbie McCarthy, DJ Target, and Spotify UK, who featured her on their Fresh Finds campaign — billboards and all.

Live, she shines just as bright. From BBC Introducing and Mahalia Presents, to selling out her own headline at Servant Jazz Quarters four weeks before doors even opened — people are turning up, and they’re sticking around.

With early love from COLORS, WONDERLAND and Spotify’s New Music Friday, it’s clear Tia’s carving her own lane — no gimmicks, just heart.

And with wait! I have something to say. x, she’s made one thing clear: she’s not here to play it safe — she’s here to say what matters.

Connect with Tia Gordon

Spotify | Instagram | TikTok

Tia Gordon has just dropped her brand-new EP wait!
